If We Are The Body

It’s crowded in worship today
As she slips in trying to fade into the faces
The girls teasing laughter is carrying farther than they know
Farther than they know

But if we are the body
Why aren’t His arms reaching?
Why aren’t His hands healing?
Why aren’t His words teaching?
And if we are the body
Why aren’t His feet going?
Why is His love not showing them there is a way?
There is a way, there is a way

A traveler is far away from home
He sheds his coat and quietly sinks into the back row
The weight of their judgmental glances
Tells him that his chances are better out on the road

[Chorus]

Jesus paid much too high a price
For us to pick and choose who should come

And we are the body of Christ
But if we are the body
Why aren’t His arms reaching?
Why aren’t His hands healing?
Why aren’t His words teaching?
And if we are the body
Why aren’t His feet going?
Why is His love not showing them there is a way?
Jesus is the way
Jesus is the way
we are His hands
We are His feet
We are His body
Jesus is the way

I love this song by Casting Crowns. It reminds me that I must be proactive to show Christ’s love to everyone. As the old adage goes: You shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover. It is the same for people. Let’s not judge someone by their exterior. Actually, let’s not judge each other, period. We never know why people have formed their opinions. Most of the time it is from their experiences. So, let’s remember to be like Christ. He talked and helped those that were deemed unworthy by society. Christ was most influential by his actions of love. Let’s be His hands, feet, body, and heart. Only until we strive to love like Christ, will we see change around us.
